Features:
♥ it consists of elongated muscle cells or muscle fibers
♥ has the ability to shrink
Type of muscle tissues
1. Builds skeletal muscles.
2. Muscle fibers are long, cylindrical.
3. The nuclei are located on the edge of the fiber.
4. Transverse striation of the fiber is visible on microscopic slides.
5. Contractions are almost always dependent on our will.
1. Builds the heart. 2. Muscle cells are visibly branched and connected by inserts in a spatial network. 3. 1 or 2 centrally located nuclei. 4. Transverse striation of the fiber is visible on microscopic slides. 5. Contractions are fast and independent of our will.

2. Muscle cells are elongated, narrowed at the ends.
3. One centrally located cell nucleus.
4. No striation.
5. Contractions are slow, independent of our will.
